It’s the Little Things was created in response to a reality too many people experience every day. Navigating complex systems can often be difficult, hard to understand, and even harder to access without guidance. For many, the challenge is not a lack of effort or ability, but rather the overwhelming complexity of processes, unclear requirements, and barriers that were never designed with everyone in mind. What should be straightforward often becomes frustrating, time-consuming, and discouraging. After years of working within these systems and observing how people are impacted by them, one thing became clear: too many individuals are left to figure it out on their own.
That gap between what exists and what people can actually access is where It’s the Little Things steps in. We help people make sense of what feels overwhelming by providing community resources that break down processes, offering support and advocacy, and guiding individuals as they take the next steps forward, especially in moments when it feels easier to give up than to keep going. But this work goes beyond mere navigation.
As a dedicated community advocacy organization, we believe that access should not depend on who you know, what you understand, or how much time you have to figure it out. We are equally committed to advocacy because we work to challenge the systems that create these barriers and push for solutions that make access more equitable.
Additionally, we recognize that civic engagement and voter empowerment are critical tools in addressing these challenges at their root. When people understand how to engage, advocate, and use their voice, they are better positioned to influence the systems that impact their daily lives. This work is about more than solving immediate problems; it is about building confidence, restoring a sense of control, and ensuring that people not only get through the system but are equipped to shape it.
